Mill Creek Park

Mill Creek Regional Park, a tributary of Moore Lake (above and northeast of it) offers a great little hike for those waiting for, or dropping someone off at the Kelowna airport, or if you just feel like seeing some new singletrack terrain.

I don't advise biking or equestrian activities in the area, as sections of the trail are simply too rough for these forms of recreation.

Mill Creek Regional Park covers 15.3 hectares in the Ellison area, east of the Kelowna Airport. A beautiful cool and quiet trail system follows Mill Creek to a small, man-made waterfall and dam. The trail passes through a beautiful, shaded riparian area alongside Mill Creek. It begins as a very casual stroll, then morphs into rugged, undulating singletrack with roots and rocky sections.

Naturalists activities, including bird watching and botany, provides hikers with educational entertainment as they enjoy the park. Families can enjoy a picnic in the shade of the black cottonwood trees which line the creek. As with all of the many creekside trails featured in SweetSingletrack.ca, this area offers respite from the summer heat.

The park is open in spring, summer and fall during daylight hours. The parking area is closed during the winter, providing limited access to the park.

Though not specifically shown in the maps and GPS / Google Earth tracks provided herein, minor singletrack trails also exist above the main trail, on the north side of the creek; yours to explore and discover!

Dogs must be kept on a leash on trails and pathways within park boundaries unless otherwise designated and owners must clean up after their pets and safely dispose of waste. Directions: Take Old Vernon Road off Highway 97 north and turn onto Spencer Road, the parking lot is on the right hand side.
